I always get excited when visiting Greenpoint, Brooklyn—there are just so many cute cafes and shops to explore! Before I go, I usually save a bunch of places on Google Maps to plan where I want to stop by. But the moment I start walking around, I get distracted by all the adorable storefronts and cozy corners I pass along the way.

This morning, I met up with a friend at ACRE for brunch, and it was so nice. The store has a section of Japanese home goods, and a lot of people were getting their morning coffee at the time. There’s a cozy seating area in the back, plus a peaceful little backyard space. I got the egg salad sandwich, and my friend ordered the salmon bento set and a matcha latte. The atmosphere is really relaxing, and we just took our time enjoying the food while catching up.

After brunch, we strolled around the neighborhood and stopped into some vintage shops along the way.

We stopped by Teak, a Scandinavian decor and furniture store that gave me major future apartment inspiration. I fell in love with this pink mug and matching pink cabinet.

The lighting pieces were also stunning—so many vibrant colors and fun designs. I just know when I have my own place, I’m going to have so many different lamps and vases around.

We also passed by 50 Norman, and the space was beautiful. It’s a thoughtfully curated collection of Japanese brands, with everything from home goods and crafts to food and tech items. They also have dining option.

Next up: Paloma Bakery—a spot I’ve been wanting to visit. I got the black sesame pinwheel and it was pretty good.

Then we headed to Nick + Sons Bakery by McCarren Park. I wanted to take a look, because it was also on my list for a long time. There were many people, and most of their pastries were already gone. However, I spotted a beautiful loaf of Sal’s Bread on the shelf, and got it purely based on how pretty it looked. I didn’t even know what it was at first! Turns out, it’s a buttery brioche—how it looked and seeing it on the shelf just instantly reminded me of bread from the bakery in Kiki’s Delivery Service. By the way, my husband loved that bread!

We then went to McCarren Park, and found a sunny spot to sit. It was so nice soaking up the warm weather, and doing some dog watching. It was the perfect ending to a really lovely Saturday morning.
